Northern Renaissance Drawings and Illuminations in The Robert Lehman Collection

This is the second rotation of northern drawings culled from the Metropolitan's Robert Lehman Collection. On view are 15th- and 16th-century German, French, and Netherlandish drawings and illuminations selected from the trove of treasured master drawings and manuscripts amassed by Robert Lehman, supplemented with several loans from the Museum's Department of Medieval Art. Four autograph sheets by Albrecht Dürer are among the highlights of the presentation that also includes works by
Martin Schongauer, Hans Baldung Grien, Maerten van Heemskerck, and artists in the circles of Jan van Eyck and Rogier van der Weyden. This installation has been organized to coincide with the publication of the Lehman Collection catalogue Fifteenth- to Eighteenth-Century Drawings in the Robert Lehman Collection: Central Europe, The Netherlands, France, and England.
